DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS CODE OF CONDUCT

When using digital communications, volunteers are still required to adhere to the high standards of conduct outlined in the Girlguiding Code of Conduct (reproduced below).  

Your particular attention is drawn to the requirement to maintain privacy, show respect to individuals, show understanding when dealing with sensitive issues, of checking facts and setting a good example of acceptable behaviour.  This code applies in all circumstances.   

As a Girlguiding volunteer you are always expected to:  

  • abide by UK laws and legislation    
  • respect everyone as an individual  
  • provide a good example of acceptable behaviour   
  • respect everyone’s right to privacy  
  • show understanding when dealing with sensitive issues  
  • adhere to the organisation’s policies.  

As a Girlguiding volunteer you may not: ·   

  • permit abusive behaviour
  • have inappropriate physical or verbal contact with others  
  • jump to conclusions or make assumptions about others without checking the facts  
  • encourage inappropriate attention
  • seeking behaviour  
  • show favouritism to anyone
  • make suggestive or inappropriate remarks or actions  
  • deliberately place yourself or others in a compromising position
