Flood Awareness Launched

Girlguiding Cymru has launched the new Flood Awareness Badge in partnership with Environment Agency Wales with “Big Blue Wellies” at the WOW Camp in Builth Wells on 23 June 2012 and at the Brownies On Safari Day at Broneirion on 15 July 2012. 

This partnership is to increase flood awareness and preparedness across Wales and is aimed at all Members from Rainbows through to Senior Section.

There are two levels for the badge and girls will undertake a number of practical tasks such as developing a household flood plan and putting together a flood kit.  Not all girls live in a flood risk area but are encouraged to find out if their relatives, schools, parents place of work or even where they go on holiday are, and make a flood plan for these instead.
