SPORTS DEVELOPMENT
SPORT THROUGH GUIDING
As part of our ‘Sport through Guiding’ Project, we are seeking to engage all our girls from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides throughout Wales to take part in a variety of sports and gain their ‘Give it a Go’ badge, which also introduces physical literacy.   (Click here do download the badge criteria),

Physical literacy development is about increasing physical skills and improving physical performance.  Physical development is made up of two types of skill - gross motor skills and fine manipulative skills.

Gross motor skillsuse whole body movements for example, running, jumping, balancing, pushing, rolling, throwing, catching, kicking, etc.
Fine manipulative skills use small movements like hands and feet requiring accuracy and control.

Physical development is closely linked to all other learning particularly:
  • thinking,
  • understanding,
  • imagination,
  • creativity,
  • problem solving,
  • reasoning,
  • concentration and memory.

RIDE LEADER CYCLING TRAINING
We are delighted to be able to join with Cycling Wales to develop cycling across guiding under their ‘Breeze’ programme. One of the best ways to enjoy the great outdoors is through sport. By broadening the range of activities we can offer, we’ll be one step closer to helping as many girls as possible to get outside and enjoy themselves.

Why don't you complete our "Give it a Go" Cycling Badge with your Unit - Click here for further details.

In an effort to integrate physical literacy and sport across our 1000 units in Wales and reach a constant level of regular exercise and participation we have created new ‘Give it a Go’ sport badges specifically for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section.
