Growing Guiding

Girlguiding Cymru’s leaders are all volunteers and work very hard to maintain the high standards that are reflected in Girlguiding Cymru today. Its adult trained leaders strive to equip its members to become confident, mature young women who are well able to play a fulfilling role in today’s society. Girlguiding Cymru has an enviable record of:

  • providing stimulating and enjoyable activities in a safe environment
  • creating an atmosphere of trust and partnership
  • being committed to ‘extending entitlement’
  • up-holding the rights of all the girls in its care.
The membership of Girlguiding Cymru is increasing year on year which reflects a growing demand amongst girls and young women for a space of their own.

What does Guiding mean to you?

"I love being a Brownie!" Grace aged 8

"I can’t tell you enough how much Non loves Brownies and a big thank you for all your efforts." Marieke - Parent

"New opportunities and always making new friends" Eliza – Volunteer aged 20

"It gives girls the opportunity to be themselves" Linda – Unit Leader

Why is it important to give girls their own space?

"To enable them to develop and grow and to learn how to take responsibility for their decisions and become independent" Laura – Leader in Training

"So that they can learn to make their own decisions" Linda – Unit Leader

"Nice for girls aged 10-15 to have somewhere to develop social and new skills." Parent
