What is Dyfodol y Ddraig?
Dyfodol y Ddraig is a bi-lingual Youth Forum in Wales for young women between 16 and 25. Each county has up to 3 representatives who are part of the forum for 2-3 years each. We discuss issues that affect young women within and outside Guiding eg. violence against women, Girls Shout Our Report and specific Welsh issues. We are also involved in brainstorming ideas for events, for example Senior Section Weekends, especially with the upcoming Senior Section Centenary in 2016.
All the information that we discuss is passed back to our counties, so we can get their opinions. This can either be using Junior Councils, private Facebook groups or events within county. The Chair of Dyfodol y Ddraig now sits on the Guiding Development Management Team which gives her the opportunity to voice the opinion of Dyfodol members. This means that the opinions and ideas of Welsh Senior Section members can be heard. Each Dyfodol member is given the chance to express her own opinion and is encouraged to bring discussion topics from her county as we want to make sure that the views of the Welsh members are heard. We have been involved in many different events e.g. Annual Review, Senior Section Weekends, Young Friends, Royal Welsh Show etc.

"I always look forward to Dyfodol weekends because it gives me an opportunity to discuss topics that are important to me. Also I learn lots of tips and ideas to take back to my units and I’ve made so many good friends. Dyfodol has given me more confidence to take a more active role within Guiding and it’s a great feeling to know I’m making a difference for girls all over Wales." Ashleigh - Clwyd
