Girlguiding Cymru are launching a brand new performing arts project, for Girlguiding Cymru members aged 5 - 18.  Performance auditions are now open for you to apply.  The show will be touring to three theatres across Wales, with opportunities for performing and non-performing roles.

To apply send a two minute audition video showing us your talent, with this completed audition video consent form to the Girlguiding Cymru Facebook page by direct message or email to inthespotlight@girlguidingcymru.org.uk

Who can audition?

The audition process is open to any member of Girlguiding Cymru aged 5 – 18. You must be an active member of a unit in Wales and must remain with your unit until after the In the Spotlight 2020 performances in April 2020. You must also be available for the rehearsal and performance dates.  
Main cast must be available between Sunday 5th April to Sunday 12th April 2020.
North local chorus - Must be available Monday 6th April and Tuesday 7th April 2020
Mid local chorus - Must be available Wednesday 8th April to Thursday 9th April 2020
South local chorus – Must be available Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th April 2020
(each local chorus will have an additional rehearsal day date TBC)

How do I audition?
You are invited to submit a two minute audition video which should be uploaded by Direct Message to the Girlguiding Cymru Facebook page by midnight on 1st December 2019. Please note: due to Facebook age restrictions, for participants aged 13 or under the audition video upload should be completed by a parent/guardian/carer.  Download "How to enter" poster here. What can be included in my audition?
Auditions can include any performing talent you would like to show us. For example, acting, singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, juggling, performing magic, reciting a poem, storytelling, etc.   

How long must my audition be?
Audition can be no longer than two minutes.  If an audition tape is submitted over this time only the first two minutes will be reviewed for selection purposes.   

How can I submit my audition?
Auditions videos are to be submitted in a Direct Message to the Girlguiding Facebook page. All participants must also submit an Audition Video Consent Form download here.  Please note, due to Facebook age restrictions, for participants 13 years and under, the audition video upload should be completed by a parent/guardian/carer.   

When do the auditions need to be submitted by?
Closing date for video auditions will be midnight of the 1st December 2019. Videos received after this time will not be considered.   

When will I hear if my audition is successful?
All participants will be notified on the 16th December 2019 whether successful or not.   

Are there other ways to get involved without having to perform on stage?
Yes, non-performance opportunities, are available to members 14+, please fill in the form here. Don’t forget you can also complete the “In the Spotlight Challenge Badge” with your unit. Find more information here.

When do the non-performing role application need to be submitted?
The closing date for applications for non-performing roles is midnight of the 1st December 2019. Applications received after this time will not be considered.

When will I hear if my application is successful?

When will I need to be available?
If you are a member of the main cast you will need to be available throughout the 2 week Easter holidays for rehearsals and performances.

If you are a member of the local chorus you will need to be available for 2 days of the rehearsals and the performance day during the Easter holidays. Both main cast and chorus may need to attend additional rehearsals and costume fitting.  Dates and venue for these will be confirmed after the selection process, based on availability and location.   

How much will it cost?
The is no fee to participate within any “In the Spotlight” role however minimal charges will apply to additional items e.g. T-Shirts etc. Successful applicants will receive full information of these costs when selection is confirmed.   

Will we need our own transport?
All participants will be required to provide their own transport to and from the rehearsal/performance venues.  Transport will be provided for the main cast between each performance area..  Local chorus members will need to provide their own transport to and from rehearsal and performance days.   

I’m over 18, can I still get involved?
Yes, all non-performing roles are available to 18+ members to apply and don’t forget you can complete the “In the Spotlight Challenge Badge” with you unit. Find more information here.
