Breconshire is one of three old counties that make up the county of Powys, formed in 1984, the other two counties being Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire.
It is a large rural area with a small population, comprising of five districts, which are Brecon, Cefn Coed, Crickhowell, Hay and Talgarth and Ystradgynlais.
Breconshire is famous for hosting the large literary festival held in Hay-on-Wye and the annual Jazz Festival in Brecon. The area is one of the most beautiful in Wales and our members enjoy a range of local activities, including horse riding in the picturesque Brecon Beacons, canoeing, camping and visiting local heritage sites such as Craig-y-Nos.
Our girls and young women enjoy the challenges presented by all the various aspects of Guiding, and from our youngest Rainbow to our Senior Section’s most recent Queen’s Guide, we strive to compensate for the small size of our County in our achievements.
